LOSS: $800 million

Well, Jerry Yang lost his job, even though that was ultimately his decision. But in terms of financial losses, he only forfeited his $1-a-year salary.

Nonetheless, before he pulled the plug on his own employment, Yahoo's share price had dropped roughly 15 points since January, knocking the value of Yang's stake down by nearly $800 million.

This guy's a loser all right; not just because of the money he lost.

Don't you hear him say to himself: "If I'd let Ballmer's ego win over mine, I'll be $1B richer." The sad part is that his shareholderes thought he was wrong and now we all lost. Class action anyone?

It's funny how CEO's can lose perspective of their own company's position in a changing world. Dickie Fuld turned down an offer that would have saved him billions, and Mr. Yang will probably be fordced by Carl Icahn to sell Yahoo at $10 instead of $30. They could both learn a lesson from John Thain about hitting the bid.

Monday morning quarter backs - all of you.

Why are you buying a company? So you can turn around and get a buck IMMEDIATELY by selling? Just like Mr. Icahn?

This is what I want to share:

PS I have no position in YHOO but will if it drops to $8 and hold.

@percy: false. I thought that the 70% equity premium was a great deal for YHOO since day one. That would make me a Sunday morning quarterback.

His company has been stalemate for a long time. His ego ruined any chances for the shareholders to

make money.

i dont see how jerry young is a loser. he founded the company and did not want to sell it. how is that a loser? even if he is a loser, he is no bigger loser than those who call him one - at least he's got the money that you cannot even dream of in 100 years. of course its easy for me to say since i dont hold yahoo stocks. on the other hand if you do, you are definitely no better than Young.

Well Benton, since Percy wrote *before* you did, he couldn't have been referring to you when he called the people who wrote before *him* "Monday morning quarterbacks". Therefore telling him he's wrong because you're not what he accused other people of being is...well, not very logical.
